Turn a Linux VPS into Windows Server over SSH

No ISO, no control panel, no manual install. Enter SSH credentials, pick a version, and the server is reinstalled as Windows with RDP ready. Free and open to everyone.

This wipes the target disk. Windows overwrites everything on the VPS — all Linux data is lost and cannot be recovered. Only run it on a server you have backed up.

Windows version

Official Microsoft image with virtio drivers, installed unattended.

Windows Server 2022 Recommended Supported until 2031. Needs ≥ 4 GB RAM. Windows Server 2019 Lightweight Lower memory footprint — workable on a 2 GB VPS.

Method

How much risk you accept that the server does not come back online.

Rescue Safest Boot the provider's rescue Linux first, then write the disk. Bootloader and IP are repaired afterwards. Live Best-effort Run from the running OS. Faster, but the server may fail to boot or RDP may never open.
